Birmingham Street

Key Features

Birmingham Street elegantly showcases the beautiful marriage of traditional and modern elements. It boasts a sustainable WSUD Rain Garden, which effectively reduces water runoff.

The street encourages a greener, healthier lifestyle with its dedicated bike path, complemented by convenient bike racks and a striking Corten Bridge that symbolizes community unity and connectivity. As evening falls, the area comes alive under the soft glow of solar-powered lights, highlighting the meticulous blend of bluestone and red brick paving that adds a classic yet contemporary feel to the street.

Completing the picturesque setting are timber decks adorned with Corten steel designs, lending an air of elegance and artistic sophistication to the space.

Overcoming Challenges

Birmingham Street faced significant challenges due to its location within an urban environment with a high population density and an active primary school on either side.

To successfully navigate these issues, our team conducted thorough site assessments, developed detailed access plans, and considered alternative construction methods and equipment when necessary.

Effective communication with clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities was critical in managing expectations and minimising the impact of access challenges on the project's outcome.

The Result: An Award Winning Project:

Birmingham Street is a testament to the power of community, sustainability, and the positive impact of thoughtful urban planning. Maribyrnong City Council's visionary project has transformed Birmingham Street into a sustainable oasis for all to enjoy.

At the recent Landscape Industry Awards, this project was awarded with the best commercial project between 500k - 1.5m for 2023. It's a fantastic reward for a project our team worked so hard on.
